| PLANET OF THE APES
Directed by Tim Burton Basic plot outline: A slick remake of the old classic tale. An astronaut crash lands on a planet, only to find that the humans are inferior, and the walking, talking apes are on top of the foodchain. Review: This review is in no way a comparison to the original film. I love Tim Burton... no one makes a dark film the way he can (omitting Proyas who made The Crow and Dark City). True to form, this film is absolutely gorgeous in terms of pure aesthetics. The make-up is exceptional, which accentuates the brilliant sets. On top of that, the acting is great too. I dislike Wahlberg, but he is pretty much bearable in this film, whilst Tim Roth is fantastic in his role. An overall strong film, and definitely very enjoyable escapist entertainment. |
