| PLEASANTVILLE
Directed by Gary Ross Basic plot outline: David and his twin sister Jennifer are magically transferred into a black and white TV programme (Pleasantville). The show is set in the old fashioned 50's. The two teenagers from the chaotic 90's have a 'colourful' and inspiring effect upon this 'perfect' TV world. Review: A thought provoking, insightful and brilliant film! You finish watching this film to glance down at a full box of popcorn... thats how intruigingly enjoyable it is. One of the few films i have ever watched where i merely sat down and ravished it, instead of trying to second guess the film maker the whole way through. Its refreshing conceptualization reminded me in parts somewhat of George Orwell's Animal Farm... but its more... oh so much more than that... This film deals with multiple issues intellegantly. It has a constant subtle humour, and was brilliantly directed. A new and definite favourite. A directorial debut for Gary Ross <<-- keeping my eye on this name. |
